Turning 81!

It was 18th August yesterday, Mr. Sampooran Singh Kalra aka Gulzar's birthday, the person who made me read poetry, understand and love it! And who else than GulzarSaab be a better inspiration to start my blog again! So, to begin with, here are bunch of words for my beloved,GulzarSaab...
He must be the only person born in the 30's,who is adored equally by all the generations. When he writes a JungleBook theme song: "Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai", every kid just sees himself in the 'chaddi pehenke khila phool, Mogli'. When his pen says, "Dil bahal toh jaega is khayal se, haal mil gaya tumhara apne haal se"; every lover falls in love all over again. When he asks the life to just give a hug, we all sing along with him, "humne bhi tere har ek gham ko galese lagaya hai, Aye jindagi gale laga le". By just listening to "Aaj kal Paaon zamin par nahi padte mere", every teenage girl starts flying. Every break-up seems terrible with a "Mera kuch samaan tumhare paas pada hai" playing in the background. It's so difficult to even have an idea of his vast range and the depth and extent of his writing.
Every mood, emotion, every single thought is expressed so beautifully and so aptly in Gulzar Saab's work. Each creation of him itself is a masterpiece. No word ever gets misplaced, we understand the perfect meaning of 'striking the right chord' while we indulge in his words. Even a thought of his words makes me travel the whole world within a  moment. I always feel that he has some magic wand which fits every alfaaz in its perfect place and the entire nazm gets melted in the tune so melodiously that the song sounds like God's own voice. A non-believer like me also starts believing in the almighty; and that's the magic of Gulzar's pen.
Gulzar has been a witness and a reason of celebration of all the emotions of our lives. His words are so deep that we can discover a new meaning with almost every new experience of his creation. The metaphors he has used are just beyond a commoner's imagination but yet are felt so close-to-heart. His all Chands, all his Raats, all his Mausams and all his versions of the Jindagi feel different, yet the same and leave us enchanted always. He might have written these songs for particular scenes in film, but the meaning and the emotions they deliver have made a much bigger impact and covered a much longer distance than just a song for the movie. That is the power of Gulzar Saab's mighty pen.
We have witnessed GulzarSaab's other versions too; A Marvelous Shayar, an unusual story writer, an ahead-of-the-time director and a dialog-screenplay writer. But the Lyricist Gulzar is loved the most, by me and by the most of the people. His words get entwined into each other and form a smooth, silk fabric-like song. Every space, every between-the-line, every meter is arranged with so much of perfection.
The most important and unique thing about Gulzar is his keeping with the time. At the age of 81, he thinks just like an 18 year old teenager and gives his words to a new age sensation Yo-Yo too! This is the most amazing quality of Gulzar Saab. I initially thought of calling his work a Nasha. But then it's so much more than just an addiction. In his own words, Jaadu hai sir chadhega aur jo utregi sharaab hai; his work is magic which is recreated with every new thing he writes, is never deteriorated and is mysterious as well!
We are hungry people Gulzar Saab; so on your 81st, while we wish a healthy life for you, we wish more and more from your pen for us too!

PS: I know, the post is a belated birthday wish, but after all I needed a lot of courage to gather my words together for the legendary wordsmith!
